Robert adsolved at 8:40 Saturday night when Night Patrolmen Orville Thomas, Ray Stephens, Herman Flynn and Arthur Parks, arrested Robert, 13 year old son of ex-policeman Scott Davis following two fires on south Washington street the boy had started. At police headquarters a few minutes later, Robert made a complete confession, declaring that he alone had applied matches to nearly fifty different houses, most of which failed to burn. He said he had tried to get two fires going at. the same time, but in thishe failed.When searched, the boy had a number of articles in his pockets, including a black jack and flashlight which his father used as a police officer, an ice pick, and two books he said he had drawn from the city library. The titles of the books were, “Unconquerable Edward, and “I. W. W. Shows Tts Hand.He was intending to use the ice pick to pin another warning note on the residence of C. P. Gatts, south Walnut street, where he started two fires Monday and Tuesday nights. In his pocket was a piece of card board on which he had scribbled another warning to the Gatts family to leave the city.
