JAGGED AND IN JAIL.Sandow” Belle Story Landed By Patrol, man Gardner Last Night.Belle Story, ono of the inmates of Madame Jaycox's bagnio, was arrested last night by Officer Gardner, who regulates the movements of the people in the Tenth district. Sandow” as she is called, is one of the toughest women of her class. Shei fights at the drop of the hat and when under the influence of liquor is not particular whether she fights a policeman or a school bojl She was arrested about a year ago at Mat Wysong’s place and when the police came she resisted arrest. She struck Officer McGrew in tho eye and for a week thereafter that orbit was decorated witha dark brown circle.She tried this game on Officer Gardner last night but the tall policeman was looking for just such a demonstration and laid his open hand athwart her countenance. Belle fell to the sidewalk with a dull thud. She was game to the heart, however, and when the wagon came she showed fight again. She kicked, scratched, cursed apd finally laid down, but she went to jail just the same. Her clothes were but partially arranged when she landed in jail; indeed, her nether garments was about the only apparel she had on when placed in the cell. Jailer Smith tried to keep the woman still when she was brought to the jail and for his trouble he wras kicked in the face. The mud-bespattered woman was finally dragged into a cell and this morning will be one of the attractions in police court.CAUGHT IN THE DRAG.airs. Burton's Mouse of III Fame Raided By the Police Last Night.The police last night swooped down on Mrs. Burton’s house of ill fame at the corner of Second arid Popular streets and made a haul. There were five men in theplace and four women. Captain Hyland, Sergeant Beattie and Patrolman Gardner made the pull. The women arrested were Hattie Burton,” Maude Miller, Daisy Bell, and “Irish Laura.” The men gave fictitious names as follows: Henry Dawson, JohnSmith, William Brown, Ceras James and William Martin. All of this interesting collection with the exception of Miss Hattie” rode to the jail in the patrol wagon. The dignified housekeeper, however, stepped out proudly iu her old red bath robe and with a fascinator thrown over her shoulders exposed herself to the croup by walking. The lines of the girls were stayed, but the men remained in jail to be brought before the mayor for inspection this morning.
