Lester Connor and Lucius Brenaman. The four were seated about the table in the dining room when Bailey entered through a rear door. Ferrell states that Mrs. Skinner went to the kitchen to meet Bailey and closed the door. Some words, which the three men could not hear are said to have followed.Bailey and Mrs. Skinner entered the room and she again sat down at the table. Bailey greeted the men as he passed on to his bedroom. Almost immediately Bailey stepped out of his bedroom with his rifle and fired a shot at Mrs. Skinner, missing her. She jumped and made a break for the kitchen but fell when a second bullet from Bailey's gun struck her. Ferrell grabbed the rifle from Bailey and threw the gun into the yard, following which the three men hastened to the police station and reported the shooting.When Deputy Sheriff Coleman arrived at the house he found Mrs. Skinner lying on the bed in Baileys’ room where he had evidently carried her. Bailey had his arm around the woman and back of-her was another rifle which Coleman seized as
