Tragedy at Belmont. *■ • . rWednesday a shooting affray occurred in Belmont, ia which Charles Greenan received a twenty-two short bulletin his right leg near the knee. The shooting was the result of a feud which originated at a Catholic church fair last September, which was attended by John Dougan a conductor onthe W. N. Y. P., and Luke Me-♦ *Dermott. They engaged in an altercation, and Greenan, a prominent member of the church, was foremost in ejecting Dougan from the hall. The matter was supposed to be settled satisfactorily. Wednesday Dougan visited Belmont, much the worse for liquor, and went to McDermott’s jstore to buy some tobacco, but really “to clean out the place.11 He began talking loudly, but Greenan hushed him up, and got him outside and lie started down the street. Dougan hadAgone only a few feet when he turned and fired his revolver with disastrous results to Greenan, who fell to the ground. The hall broke the bone of Greenan \s leg. Hi.scondition is favor-able, and no serious results are anticipated.
