About three weeks ago they agreed to separate and Mr, W. left the place.Friday Archibald seemed to be in a mood to c ourt trouble. He filled himself leasonnbly lull of intoxicants and about 5 o’clock in the evening proceeded to ihe home of his wife with a vi-w to compelling her to desist from her expressed purpose to continue living apart from him. After some verbal controvtsy without satisfaction, he made a vicious assault upou the woman and with a murderous knife he attempted to stab her to death. As he made a slash at her she threw up one hand to defend herself and the weapon made an ugly gash in her wrist. At this instant Mrs. W’s mother, who resides with her, came to the rescue with a clut aud with a vigorous application on his head succeeded in thwarting the brutb s murderous purpose and dirtcted his mind ’.othe thought of escape, aud tie tiew.when he found policeman Seibert was coming to place him under arrest.Mrs. W. visited Mayor Deatrick later in the eveuiug and filed an affidavit with him charging tier husband with assault with intent to Kill.beJPdhcJ:t|wItlEcticf.
