EUREKA RIVER(By The Oa*ette’8 Corr«*Dond«nt)Eureka River, Jan. 28.—Last year Ben Basnett had several sheep killed by dogs, and again last week an exceedingly vicious dog belonging to a well-known trapper attacked the flock, killing a valuable male animal which Mr. Basnett had procured only a few days before. We understand if it were not for the prompt action of Bert Mitchell a great deal more damage might have been done.Most of the trappers who came in with their fur and to procure provisions have returned to theirtraplines.The older settlers do not remember a year in which the moose and deer were as scarce as this year.
