Ind., Dec. 30—Early this they morning Joseph Ziegler, a policeman, that ■hot and killed Smock, another police- egat man. Ziegler was patrolling his beat fore when he saw two men leave a residence, one and upon seeing that the officer saw them men they started to run. The officer pursued finis them into the alley and fired and killed of t one of them. Going to the prostrate man conl he found him to be Officer Smock. The other man. Officer Cahill, then came up and explained that they were off duty and on a lark and did not want to be discov- coul ered.
