Mavity of Rossville has juggeated a legislative. investigation of the Buford rock quarry prison where 40 in* corrlgibles slashed their legs Christmas Day to avoid work. While the isolation cells were filled wi iih the rebellious prisoners, 22 others staged a sit-down. Hatchett, assistant state director of corrections, declined to allow newsmen to interview the recalcitrant prisoners. He gave his word that there had been no brutality and said he did not think the prisoners should be permitted to “tell lies to reporters and get a lot of publicity.”
