Murp^ . announced last week the sentence of Ero Maki, Covington Townshiplumberjack who was convicted of dynamiting a bridge at the Elmbladcamp during the 1937 lumberjackstrike, had been reduced from ten to two years. The reduction will make Maki eligible for release on March 15th.Reports from the governor’s office stated that Judge John G Stone of Houghton had requested the reduction after reviewing the case. The sentence received by Maki of 10 to 20 years was mandatory. %Lawrence Kantola, who was implicated with Maki and received a sentence of from two to twenty-five j years, was released after serving only a few months.From reports in Covington Town-#hi|»r-Maki and Kantola were respectable residents of the community and were dragged1 into the atrike affair through the urging of organisers from the northwest, who used these young men aa tools in an effort to stop logging operations during the strike era of 1937. o— --
