Messrs. McDannold and Geisbauer were appointed tellers, and Deputy Marshal Creighton and Ueut. John Butts put in nomination for the position. Mr. Butts waa elected on the sixth ballot by a sole of ten to fire. On motion of Mr. Stuart, it was directed that the Marshal elect be sworn in to-morrowr, and be ready to present bis bond at the j of Council.Policemen John Creighton and Patrick Mooney offered their resignations, which were accepted, to take effect this morning.The regular order of businete waa resumed, and Tarious bills read. It was remarked that the salary of the late Clinton Butts had been allowed for the whole mouth of Deoember. The Couneil ratified thia action. Mr. Hall moved that the amount in question be paid to the administrator of the estate. This waa ttsaaoded hr motion of Me, 4tenrt, that the portion that would nave accrued from the time of the Marshal’s death until the end of his term be paid to the widow, and that the rest be held subject to indebted-ness of Mr. Butts to the city lor fines assessed in theMayor's Court
