Police Clear up Series of Breaks in Middlesex StreetArrest Thaddeuss Zureik, Aged 17, at Point of Guns, in Tenement Where Large Quantity of Loot Had Been Found—Prisoner Held in $5000 BailBy capturing Thaddeuss Zureik at the point of guns last night just before midnight in a tenement in the rear of the Oakland Sales and Scr\-ico agency in Middlesex street, police claim they have cleared up a series of breaks, occurring in the past two weeks which had caused a stir in the inner circles of the department.Zureik, who said he is 17 years old, and that he has relatives living at 48 Auburn street, lived like a recluse In the tenement. Police charged him with breaking and entering in the night time and larceny and he was held in $5000 bail for appearance in court today.Admits Breaks, Police Say.The police allege that Zureik admitted all the recent breaks in Middlesex street and confessed he was a roof worker, making an entrance Into stores and offices by means of skylights through which he dropped knotted ropes. They say he told them he has a five-year deferred sentence hanging over him in a Rhode Island city for breaking and entering.The credit for the capture goes to Patrolmen Thomas F. Hickey and John F. Scully, who lay In waiting for the man, after a tip furnished to the department earlier in the day had uncovered several hundred dollars worth of loot hidden in the tenement. Loot la Cleaned out.After the department had bepn advised of the find early yesterday afternoon members of the criminal bu-! reau went up and cleaned out the : stuff consisting of shirts, ties, gum, price tags, candy and theatre programs. A watch was maintained un-til the early night shift came on-Lt. Samuel S. Bigelow detailed Officers Hickey and Scully to watch the place. They were In plain clothes. Upon looking over the premises the officers found a ladder had been made and erected on the roof of the Oakland garage which reached to a platform near the third floor. A hole, large enough to admit a man, had been cut in the platform, and by standing on the edges of it one could reach a window above and make entrance Into the tenement.Cut Pesp Hole.At 6 o’clock the officers took up their vigil.
