About the tianlield Murder.The Potter Democrat, published at Coudersport, Pa., contains a full account of the trial of Art Gordenier, who was tried at Austin, Pa., on the charge of murdering Ban field and acquitted. Among other things the Democrat says:;v ‘‘Btit two witnesses were sworn by tUe defeuse. The evidence for the defense was summed up by John Ormerod who endeavored to convince the jury that it was the first shot fired by Gordenier that killed Ban field.“The Commonwealth plea was made by A. 8. Heck whose contention was that the evidence was very plain that the third shot was the fata bone. Judge Morrison charged the jury iu an entirely fair and impartial manner telling them they might find the defendant guilty of murder iu the first degree, of murder in the second degree or of voluntary manslaughter, or If they believed that Gordenier was in great danger of his life and acted purely in self defense, they might acquit him. It was the almost unaui-mous belief that the jury would bring in a verdict or either murder iu the second degree or at least of voluntary manslaughter in a very short time. After being out eighteen hours the jury brought iu a verdict of ‘not guilty.
