Rutledge, Lincoln Parish coroner, served a warrant early this morning for the arrest of Sheriff A. J. Thigpen who is charged with murder in connection with the killing of Phillip Harris at his home north of here Tiiesday night when Harris is said to hay e resisted me off leers when they bame to search the house for some liquor which was thought to be there.Young Harris who was a farmer and an alleged bootlegger is said to have been convicted of liquor charges on previous occasions, and at one time had been asked to leave in order that a charge against him might be stopped. He later returned to his home, however, and the officers were serving a warrant to search his house when the fatal shooting occurred.Sheriff Thigpen said Harris was shot “as a last resort” declaring that he resisted him and his deputies, Clyde Frasier and Guy Braswell, when they attempted to search his house. He stated, that it was a regrettable affair but developed into a threat into the lives of officers.”According to law, Dr. W. S.
