Germans Charged With MurderAmericans and British From Prison Camps Were IncludedLondon, Dec. 2.’,.— (.p) —The Moscow radio said today an extraordinary Soviet commission had established that nearly 700,00 0 persons, including’ an undetermined number oC Americans and British from German prison camps, were tortured and slain in the Nazi extermination camp at Lwow.The broadcast, ''recorded here by the Soviet montor, said an additional 200,000 persons weie killed in another Nazi camp at Janow and that cliildreu were slaughtered in target practice.The broadcast did not make clear whether the British and Americans were prisoners of wav or civilians and did not state tlieir number.Rel a ti n g eye - w i t n ess descriptions of the most horrible tenor [tactics, the bi oadcast said the com-i mission had established Ileinnch Himmlcr’s direct participation in the Lwow atrocities. A Frenchman was quoted as saying that when he arrived at the camp in September, 194 3, there was only one water tap for the use of 12,00ii persons, and the prisoners were allowed to use it only a few' hours a day.The commisison’s report said a typhoid epidemic was introduced in one camp by deliberately putting typhoid sufferers among healthy prisoners. It took 5,00 0 lives, the commission said.The report described special measures taken on Himmler’s orders in June. 1913. when thousands of corpses were exhumed sands burned and the ashes sifted by special machines.
