Man arrested near Douds after 12 mile high-speed chaseKEOSAUQUA — James Lester Franklin, 36, Keosauqua, was charged on three counts by Van Buren county sheriff, Orville Lee, and the Iowa Highway Fa-trol, after he was arrested near Douds late Tuesday night. The arrest was made following a high-speed chase.In Justice of the Peace Donna Bruggeman’s court this morning, Franklin was fined $50 on a reckless driving charge and $25 for ignoring a red light. He was also charged with OMVUI and was released on his own recognizance.Sheriff Lee reported that thechase started at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in Keosauqua. Franklin spedout of town and was pursued by the sheriff for 12 miles over gravel roads. He ran through a road block south of Douds and went onto the blacktop where he ran his car into a ditch. He was apprehended about one half mile north of the road block.
