The Recent Robbery at Barred Islands.The following authentic particular! have reached ua of the robbery perpetrated to Mr. Roll’s office premises, Barred Islands: “ Between the hours of 9 o’clock on the night of the 2nd, and 7.80 a.m., on the 3rd, the officewindow was broken by the burglars cuttingaway.one bar of the sash and taking out two panes of 7x9 glass when they entered. They forced open the desk and took the cash-box and contents, amounting to eighty pounds (£80). Immediately after tLs discovery, the magistrate at Fogo was notiii-'d, and Police Constable Lee arrived the su xe day to examine the premises, but no cluo up to the 6th had been found. The house of one person at Fogo has been searched, out without leading to any arrest.” Our correspondent adds : “ I do hope and believe that the people of this, as well as other localities in this district, would like to see the miserable wretch, who is guilty of the affair, brought to justice.” Mr. Rolls has worked hard to try and alleviate the suffering of the poor of this district, which he has the honor to represent in the Legislature, yet this is the return he meets at the bands of a few ingrates—the robbery of his office.
