The IIArprr'u Ferry AflVilrN.We have, from time? to time, published telegraphic reports and articles from our exchanges in relation to the Harper’s Firry foray, its conception, progress, ' murderous results, arrest of tunny of the 1 outlaws engaged in it, and their trial, 1 and final execution on the gallows. Old 1 John Brown, known as Ossnwattomie Brown, the ringleader, was hung on Fri- ! ‘ day the 2d inst., and four of his accomplices, Shields Green and John Copeland, negroes, and John E. Cook and Edwin Coppic, whites, were hung on Friday the 16th inst. Two of the party, by the names of Stephens and Hazlett, are under arrest, and will be tried next May.Those who are known to have been engaged in this affair, and who made their escape and have not l»e«*n arrested, are,F. J. Merriam, C. P. Tidd, Barclay Coppic, Owen Brown, and a negro by the name of Anderson. It is generally admilted that Anderson, (the negro,) Mer | riaui, Tidd, and Coppic, whites succeeded in effecting their escape to Canada; while Owen Brown is believed to bo somewhere in one of the northern Slates.We give a very brief description of those who were executed:Old Ossawattomie John Brown was born on the Btb of May, 1800, in the State of Connecticut. He was over six feet high, of slender form, and w«u executed at Charlestown, Yu , on llie 2d of December, for murder, insurrection and treason. *7 * * 'V” ' '**'■' jJohn E. Cook was about thirty years old, and a native of Connecticut. He was about five feet eight inches high, well educated, and respectably connected in family relations: had light hair and fair complexion, and was executed on the 10th of December.Edwin Coppic was born in Ohio* was about twenty four years old, five feet nine inches high, and with a swarthy visage. He expiated his crimes on the gallows in company with his confederate, John E.Cook.Shields Green was a black negro, about twenty-two years old, and was born in the State of New York.John Copeland was a mulatto negro, about twenty-two years old, and was hung at the same time with his accomplice Green, on the 16th of December.—-1 w/ustd Constitutionalist.
