HUNTSVILLE. Texas. Dec. 19. (INS)—Harry Lacy, 42-year-old , Trinity county negro, was executed in the electric chair at the , central .state prison in Huntsville today. H® was the 192nd to lose , his life in that chair, and the see-' i ond within four days.| Lacy was sentenced to death in i Montgomery county for the fatal shooting of Edgar Womack, prominent Trinity county farmer. Lacy’s defense was that he had been forced to do the shooting by another white man who held a gun at his back. The trial at which he was sentenced was the third attempt to settle the case.' Previous trials had ended in jury disqualification with consequentchange of venue; and a reversal by superior court.Lacy received the customary 30-day reprieve from Governor ; O'Daniel, setting back his execution date from June 14, 1939, to July 14. An indefinite postponement was then obtained while his ; attorneys took the case to the 1 United States supreme court on • the grounds there were no negroes on the grand jury which returned . the indictment. The supreme court ruled the case was out of its jurisdiction.
