Layte pleaded innocent to two charges of armed robbery resulting from two store holdups here Dec. 7 in which $170 was taken. He was held in $10.-000 on these charges.Layte and Tyrell were charged with assaulting Deputy Sheriffs Harry A. Burnell and Horace Butler during their escape.
