Capt. George B. Talmer and Lt. Martin Connors today celebrate their 39th anniversaries as officers; Officers Janies I Markham and John J. Mulry their 35th on the 22nd; Lt. Martin A. .Maher and Sergt. Hugh Maguire 34th on the 28th. and Officer John Ganley his 32nd on the 21st.Capt. George B. Palmer, who now heads the liquor squad, w as born in ( Maine. Ho was appointed to the reserve force of the department Dec. 16, 1887. He was made a regular officer May 8, ]8S8. He was made a liquor inspector on Aug. 6, 1889. He attained the sergeontcv rank May 21, 1895 and was advanced to the rank of lieutenant Dec. 29, 3 897. He was awarded the rank of captain ( May II, 1922, hy the late Superin-j tendent Thomas R. Atkinson. He was commended July 17. 3 89G. During his career with the Police department Capt. Talmer has been I largely identified with liquor work. Tie is a widower and resides at 23 Eighteenth street.Lt. Martin A. Connors was appointed a reserve officer Dec. 16. 1887, and was advanced to the regular force Oct. 2. 1888. lie was made a sergeant of police Jan. 1. 1898. and promoted to the lieutenancy Feb. 23, 1908. He was commended for making important arrests on Sept. 29, 1.898 and on April 5, 1913. Lt. Connors was born in Ireland. 11c lives at 77 Bellevue street.Lt. .Martin A. Maher became iden-; tilled with the Police department as a reserve officer Dec. 28, 1892. Mewas advanced to the ranks of the regulars April 8. 1894. lie became an inspector May 27, 1902, and wastpromoted to the rank of lieutenant March 28, 1911. He has been connected with the liquor squad. Thej greater part of l^s police career has been with the Bureau of Criminal \ Investigation, with which he is still ! identified. Ho was born in Ireland and lives at 92 Twelfth street.Lt. Maher has been commended six times for Importont arrests which he has made in his police service.Sergt. Hugh Maguire was born in | New York. He became attached to , ths reserve force of the Police department Dec. 28, 1892. lie was promoted to the ranks of the regulars May 5, 1894. and was made a sergeant Dec. 6. 1907. He was commended for making an Important arrest i on April 9, 1913. His home is at 161 j Methuen street.Officer James Markham was born in Ireland. IIo became a member of the reserve force of the depart- I ment Dec. 22, 1891, and was made a regular Dec. 27, 1892. Ho was detailed to the patrol wagon Jan. 6, 1914. and is now doing service in the signal room. He lives at 81 Bellevue 1 street.Officer John J. Mulry was born in this state. He became a reserve officer Dec. 22, 1891. He was made a regular Dec. 27. 1892. He was twice commended for making important arrests. He is now day keeper at the 1 police headquarters. He lives at 91 ' Wilder street. 1Officer John J. Ganley was born in this state. He became a supernumerary Dec. 21, 1894 and a regular June 21, 1895. Tie was commended for making an important arrest April 9, 1913. He lives at 81 Boynton street.I
