Police make 330 arrestsThe Morgantown Police Department made 330 arrests and received 215 trouble calls during the week of Dec. 7-13, according to Chief Bennie F. Palmer.In addition to 330 tickets for miscellaneous and driving violations, 552 tickets were issued for off-street lot parking violations and 14 for on-street. Twenty tickets were excused.The 330 arrests included: 309 miscellaneous parking and driving arrests; two intoxication in public; one failing to keep vehicle under control; one hazardous driving; one indecent exposure; two assault and battery; one pulling into face of oncoming traffic; one shoplifting; one peace warrant; two non-support warrants; one violation of sanitation ordinance; one driving while under the influence of intoxicants; one expired registration plates; one disregarding traffic light; one permitting passenger to ride motorcycle without a helmet; one breaking and entering; one escapee from the forestry cone improper registration plates; and one possession of stolenproperty.The 215 trouble calls included: 73 parking complaints; 11 information calls; 20 thefts of Christmas decorations; three disturbance; seven theft; one drunk driver; four alarms; three attempts to molest girls; two trespassing; five escorts; one mental patient lost; 12 police assistance; five prowlers; one attempted burglary; seven breaking and entering; one reckless driving; four domestic troubles, five emergency car calls; five vandalism; four auto theft; two auto tampering; two drunks; one armed robberybooze thievesSAN FRANCISCO (UPI)-Thieves stole 250 cases of bourbon, or enough to serve about 40,000 drinks, from a railroad boxcar, police reported Tuesday.attempt; one indecent exposure; one fight; one hit and run; onecarrying a gun; four miscellaneous calls; and 28 accidents.Morgantown Police Chief Bennie F. Palmer explained that three reports of attempted molesting in the City Council report were not molestings in fact.The three incidents are all related to a new file category concerning attempts to molest,Palmer said.The first, reported Sunday, wasfrom a girl who complained that aman had followed her on theCollins Ferry Road, Palmer said.The second, reported at 12:05 p.m. Monday, was from a Westchester Hall resident who said someone had grabbed her, thechief said.The third report, at 3:30 p.m. Monday, came from a mother whose children had been given pornographic pictures by a stranger, Palmer said.
