Negro Kills 3 In Battle With Posse(By Associated Press)Drew, Miss., Dec. 15.—This little . village nestled m the swamps of the ■ Mississippi delta awoke from its i slumbers todj»y and counted its dead, the human toll exacted yesterday in a pitched gun battle between Joe Pullen, negro tenant faimer, and a posse of • several hundred men. Four men, in-; eluding the negro, lost their lives in a ; battle which raged until 1 o'clock this 1 mornmg when Pullen’s bullet riddled : body was captured and brought jwi-e.' Nine others were injured, three per-' haps fatally.‘ The dead are: Joe Pullen, 40, negro ' tenant farmer; W. T. Sanders, 45,. his employer; R. T. Methvin, 56,. posse member; E. O. Hess, 50 posse member. All the wounded men-were members of the posse which battled with the negro more than seven hours.Among the more seriously wounded was J. L. Doggett, a prominent lumber man of Claxksdale, Miss.
