FIGHT ON INTERURBAN CAR.Passenger Slashes Conductor, Another Takes Part.Affidavits will probably be made for the arrest of two fighters on a Plainfield in-terurban car Saturday night. Martin Lynch, conductor, and William Gorham, motorman, will swear out the warrants. The fight occured on the car that left Indianapolis at 11:15 p. m. A passenger got into some trouble with conductor Lynch over his fare and the two had a sharp argument for a moment. Then, Lynch asserts, the passenger made a slash at him with a knife. The conductor was not hurt but his coat was cut from one side to the other. He jerked a “black-jack” from his pocket and struck the man in the head. The passenger fell to the floor, stunned.By this time his companion had taken part in the fight, and Qjprham, ^he motorman, had come to the aid of Lynch. In his hand Gorham carried the brass controller lever, and with one blow he laid the second passenger alongside of the first. That ended the fight, but the panic created did not stop for several minutes. When the men were in condition to take care of themselves they were helped off the car.Blood was spilled very freely about the car, and no few'er than a half dozen windows were smashed. Lynch and Gorham are satisfied with the punishment glren the passengers, but the company wishes I to put n stop to rowdy practices on the I Plainfield cars at night.——. ■ --------
