L Harville fined Benavides $50 and costs afterthe defendant plead guilty in county court. At the hearing. State Highway Patrolman James R. Peters testified that as he was driving west Firday night onHighway 44, he recognized Benavides driving toward Alice. “I recalled that he was under ^suspension for a past offense,” the officer said, “so I turned around and stopped him.” He added that among the defendants’ possessions was a collection of porno-■ graphic pictures.The highway patrolman broughtout a list which he said contained a record of 15 traffic violations by Benavides, and told the court that the defendant had been stopped four times sincehis suspension.Later, County Attorney John Mullen called the attention of Benavides to w rthless checks in the attorney's office bearing the defendant’s signature. Mullenpointed out that a total of ninechecks had been submitted since April, and that while Benavides has made payments, $13.64 remained unpaid.
