..............................Arrest of Whitecaps,A dispatch from New Albany, Ind., referring to the indictment and arrest of nine Whitecaps in Crawford county, says: Allthe arrested men are well known and several of them are quite prominent. Their arrest has caused intense excitement at the village of West Fork and in the towns of English and Eckerty, near West Fork. The intention is to prosecute these men to the end of the law, and to this end Gov. Gray has ordered a prominent criminal attorney at Corydon to assist the prosecuting attorney. On several occasions Whitecaps have been indicted in both Crawford and Harrison counties upon the evidence of their victims, who recognized them, but a jury could never bo produced which had the courage to return a verdict of guilty.So dominating has been the influence of this masked and oathbound gang of night-riders in Crawford and Harrison counties, that real estate has greatly depreciated in value, immigration into the counties has been stopped, and many citizens have sold tbeir farms at any price they could get and changed their residences to other counties.
