SENTENCE OF DEATH.(From our Special Reporter.)Dublin, Friday, At the Winter Assizes held in Leitrim to-day a middle-aired woman named Mary Brennan was indited for the wilful murder of her child, aired a few mouths. The evidence went to show that the prisoner went into a field with the child and smashed in its bead, and then, having sewn the body up in calico, left it in a limekiln pipe. The brains of the infnnt protruded. The defence was that the woman, while she had the child in her arms, staggered and fell ; thus the fatal injuries were caused. The prisoner was found guilty. Judge Harrisoo sentenced her to be hanged on Tuesday, 13th January. The prisoner said the child died in her arms.
