iiU. S. COMMISSIONER BUSY MANThe office of United States Commissioner Albert J. Counts is lust1about the busiest place one couldcivisit these days. Seems like all theunemployed and some of th^ cmelfcagcinlt;nlt;elo'1 otherwise engaging in the liquor ] eiMbusiness in some way or other. Itlooks like there must be a lame placein the law somewhere, but it is farerS]too grave a question for us to dealwith, and it is impossible to repeal it.Some•neplace and another somewhere else, and be plain we don't believe itis the law that has the weak place.L.FiZitharhWe copied for this report,do e ery week or two, the list ofarsathose appearing before the commie-ctsione1- and find it to be the largestlist ever before him in the sameI111tnumber of days, and while 21 havebeen before him there still remainout in the city here 6 warrents to beserved, and in the community aroundseveral more which when the pasteight days work is completed will moan about 30 or 35 cases withineight days.Last week a bountiful harvest wasyielded when a strange man and woman was sent here who served asundercover workers and secured theuiinccartiiafikreaarrest of about five and six still re-ofmain at large but will be arrestedviwithin a day or so. This, kind ofwork is discovering more violationswdlt;ctthan anything else, and while it is well worked now it will gradually . tu become weak, but as it weakens the ^A *violations will grow weaker and uweaker. This is just a severe spellthbut we believe the violations arethgrowing fewer and fewer each year. The following is a list of thosewho appeared before the commissioner for the past eight days forliquor charges.Ollie Jewels and James Tackett r■of Morehead charged with manufacturing, held to United States Court. mPaul Kennedy, Willard, selling, held.Mort Dean, Olive Hill, possessionwheld.Feb Mauk, Gimlet, manufactur-tl!ting, held. stAtney Jones, Morehead, manufact- cj uring, held.Elliott Cox, Gimlet, manufacturing, trCheld.Wm.
