She avitli Payne nnd Kelley who robbed the register in Stinemaifs saloon, were brought, up from the jail and mugged and measured yesterday evening.FRANK NORTON IN TROUBLE»•• •• • ••In Jail Charged With Stealing a Revolver from a West End Saloonkeeper—Case Continued.Frank Norton, a levee character, who has contributed, perhaps, more than his share of the police history of Terre Haute, was in the docks at the city court this morning charged with stealing a revolver from Ohnuncy McGlannahan, for whom he recently worked as bartender. The saloonkeeper says that about three weeks ago he discharged Norton because the cash in the till too frequently fell short of the amount shown by the register. He says that Norton has been about the place some, and that he missed his pistol, which he usually kept in the cash drawer. He began a search, and the pistol was found in Norton’s possession. He caused a warrant to be issued, and when the arrest was made the police discovered the pistol. When arraigned in police court this morning the accused pleaded not guilty and his case was continued until in the morning. Norton admits having the pistol in his possession, but says he was keeping it because McGlannahan had a pistol which belonged to him.Receiver AppointedThe suit filed yesterday by A. Z. Foster against the mosaic tile works, naming Win. W. Benson et al. as defendcnts, took a new turn late yesterday evening, when on motion of plaintiff, a receiver was appointed for the plant. James L. Price is the receiver named and he at once filed his bond of $5,000 and assumed the duties of his office. The suit is based on a mortgage executed by Peter A. Bowsher. one of the defendants to -secure the payment of a certain promissory note.
