Lawrence police recover blasting caps from lakeLawrence Township police recovered 59 blasting caps from a small lake just north of Canal Pulton Monday at 6:30 p.m.The blasting caps are believed to be part of the 1,000 pounds of explosives stolen Last May from the Magnolia Mining Co, of Waynesburg, An official of the mining company was expected to confirm the identification of the explosives sometime today, according to Lawrence Township Police Chief David Traytior.AS OF THIS morning, less than 200 pounds of the explosives had been accounted for. Two cases of dynamite, weighing 50 pounds each, and 300 blasting caps were found earlier in Perry Township.According to Chief Traynor, the father of a township police officer found the blasting caps while trapping in the area. The caps were on the top of some ice about 25 yards off shore in Lake Lucem. An unidentified neighbor told police that the blasting caps were not there five hours earlier.Perry Township detective, Lt. Robert Herndon, who led the Investigation that led to the arrest of two persons over theweekend in connection with the stolen dynamite, said this morning he believes the blasting caps found Monday are from “the same batch.”One suspect in the case resides in the ' Canal Fulton area, he said.Harry N. Valentino, 31, of Evansville, Ind., has been named administrator of the Massillon City Hospital and will assume his new duties in mid-January.The appointment ofValentino, assistant director of Deaconess Hospital inEvansville, was announced today by Robert C.
