jail sex continued on the outsideBy Jim O’HaraStaff writerAn Onondaga County Justice Center jail nurse charged Tuesday with engaging in sexual contact with a male inmate in the jail continued the relationship with that man after he was released from custody, the man claimed.According to court papers, the man said he and the nurse, Beth A. Ours, smoked crack cocaine at her North Syracuse home after his release.Ours, 37, of North Syracuse, was arrested Tuesday morning on a felony count of third-degree criminal sexual act, accusing her of engaging in an act of oral sex with the inmate in the jail in April. She declined to comment Wednesday.Sheriffs Sgt. John D’Erecli-ta said Ours is an employee of Correctional Medical Care Inc., a Pennsylvania-based private company that provides medical care in the Justice Center, the Onondaga County Correctional Facility in James-ville and the Hillbrook juvenile detention facility.No one from CMC was available to comment on Ours’ arrest.Court papers indicate the victim is a 39-year-old man who met Ours when he reported to the medical pod because of health issues while he was an inmate.“When we first met, we would smile at each other and she was very friendly,” the man told Sheriffs Detective William Gabriel in a written statement.Ours began rubbing herbody close to him and asked him to kiss her on one occasion, he told the detective. The inmate said Ours regularly performing acts of oral sex on him in the jail until he was released from custody May 21.Ours then gave him her phone number and encouraged him to call her and visit her home, he reported.The man told officials he and Ours smoked crack cocaine “a few times” while he was there.When the man returned to the Justice Center jail in September, other inmates began asking him what was going on between him and Ours, he told Gabriel.He said Ours had openlykissed him in front of some other jail employees since his return to custody.In reporting the matter to authorities, the man asked for an order of protection, saying he feared Ours would retaliate against him or his family.The man’s identity was concealed in the court papers because he is the victim of a sexual crime.
