Dr. C. G, Drumbaugli, of Huntingdon, testified that lie wag at the hospital on the niglit of August 11 in the operating room when Thompson was brought into the room. It was near the hour of 9 o'clock. latter in the night he saw Mrs. Thompson and other relatives at the hospital. Thompson was unconscious when admitted, his face was badly swollen and his neck was considerably swollen. His face was covered with blood; the left eye was entirely closed and the right eye was almost closed. The eyelids were blackened, and his lips were badly torn. Between 50 and 55 shot had struck Thompson in the left side of the face, the neck, shoulder and one or two shot had struck him in the back of the left shoulder. The doctor believed that Thompson was shot while his left side was in the line of fire and that his head was turned considerably to the left, at the time. The greater part of the charge had struck Thompson in the face, the doctor testified. Tt was possible that some of the shot had entered the brain through the | eyes or had passed through the ; thin bone in the nose.Dr. William A. Doebele of Huntingdon, testified that he first saw Thompson at the hospital on August 12, about 11:30 o’clock in the forenoon. He was unconscious at the time and was very restless. The face on the life side ! was full of wounds and there were also wounds oil his neck and left shoulder. Doctor Doebele explained that death was due either to shot entering the brain, causing an infection, or from the force of the impact causing a fracture of the skull. The sur geon punctured the spine of Thompson and this revealed a condition which led him to believe their was pressure on the brain. Dr. Doebele corroborated Dr. Brumbaugh in his belief that Thompson's left shoulder was in the line of fire and that his head was turned to the left at the time the snot struck him. A sketch, prepared at Dr. Doebele1 s direction, was offered to show the location of the shot which struck Thompson. There were approximately 57 shot which had struck him, the doc-1 or testified.i ... i . .1 rv y\ . . v _ 1 _
