Extradition Proceedings Begin In Thanksgiving Murder CaseExtradition proceedings have begun to bring a suspect wanted for murder, kidnapping, and attemped murder in Brownfield. according to Dwayne Pruitt, county attorney. The extradition papers are being handled by Gaines County officers to bring Juan Martin Sanchez back to Texas from where he is being held in the Lovington. N.M. jail.Sanchez is wanted in relation to a series of crimes related to a shooting at a Brownfield club on Thanksgiving Day. Between the time of the shooting in which one man was killed and two others wounded, and the capture of the suspect, a long string of charges in three counties in two states had been compiled against him.Following the shootings, authorities claim another Brownfield man was kidnapped, a Midland man was wounded, and a New Mexico man was kidnapped and beaten. Plus three automobiles were stolen during the suspect’s escape.According to Pruitt, it could be a month before Sanchez i«actually brought to Brownfield to face the charges against him. Gaines County, where one man was wounded in the leg and his vehicle stolen, has begun extradition proceedings and New Mexico authorities have agreed to the extradition. Charges of aggravated battery and kidnapping have been filedon Sanchez in Lovington.Pruitt said the suspect will be brought back to Texas, then officials from Gaines and Terry County will discuss which county will have first chance to bring him to trial.
