LOCAL YOUTHSSTOLE AUTOSySTAGED RACESOther Teen-Agers Captured By Police DuringAttempt To Open Safe.Seven youths were in custody of police today following confessions that they stolethan sixteen” automobiles here in recent weeks.One of the youths, RandallL. Van Meter, 20 years old,1450 Harding avenue, was arraigned in City Court Thursday on a technical charge ofvagrancy and was ordered heldunder $2,000 bond pendingcompletion of police investigations. The case was continued to Dec. 18.The other six youths were to be turned over to the Vigo County Probation Department today, police said, following the completion of statements from the youngsters. Their names were withhelddue to their ages which range from 14 to 17 years.Detective Neal said today the youths in confessing said they had “taken so many autos they couldn’t remember them all.”Staged Auto Races.tfHe reported the youths said they “raced and joy rided in the cars fn most cases and then abandoned the autos.
