The Chicago officer who came after Ruprecht,,claimedthat there were at least 20 cases ofhorsestealing against him in that city. He was also wanted hf,re for two similar offenses. Dozens of towns have suffered at Runrecth’s hands.The thief would hire an outfit from aliveryman to go to a certain point andthen drive off in an opposite direction,when he would sell the horse for half its value. The description of the man always tallied with that of Ruprecht.The flying horsethief, as tie became known, within the last year has stolen not less than 100 horses. Ruprecht has lived here practically all of his life, and was never arrested for a felony.
