Musmanno of Pittsburg, Pa., has adopted a novel if gruesome “cure” for such offenders brought before him. Everyone found guilty is obliged to accompany the coroner or his deputy to the city morgue and while looking into the face of a corpse, he must recite the following pledge:“I am thoroughly aware . .of the fact that a drunken driver is a potential killer. And in appreciation of my good fortune in not going to prison for a much more serious offense which could so easily have followed my indiscretion I pledge myself in the solemn presence of death, never again to drink any intoxicating beverage when 1 am about to drive a motor vehicle.”
