Oou's Bad Break.Recently Gertie Golden, a prepossessing young woman who had been living a life of 3hatns in a Terre Jlaute bagnio, left that city with some of the wearing apparel of the proprietress in her possession. She went to Frankfort and from that city came here, finding a place in Maud Morehouse's bagnio on Second street. She changed her name and fancied that she was safe from the law. Con Meagher, chief of the TerreHaute police, arrived here last eveuing at 7 :l.r o’clock, however, and accompanied bv Lieutenant Haas, started out to find Gertie, for whose arrest he carried a warrant. The Morehouse plnce was visited but Gertie had gone to the opera house. When shereturned after the show she was placed under arreat. The value of the goodstaken is not grent and Gertie promisedthat if Mr. Meagher would accompanyher to CrnwfordHville she would adjustthe matter. They left for the Hodsior•Athens last night at o’clock.LaJ'ui/vtte -lour/idl.The matter was evidently adjustedhere to Con's satisfaction. They weredriven direetlv from the station to oneof the hotels where they registered U6“P. C. Purcell and wife* of Chicago, 111.”They passed the night together and leftthis morning for Terre Haute. Thatcit7 would do well to tire the festive ♦Con without delay. The woman was formerly in a resort here and wns known as “Goldie.” She was jailed here less than a year ago and taken out by a woman from Terre Haute who paid her line.
