According iy he set his eye upon Emma Thomas, a coy maiden of the neighborhood, who lived on the other side of Jordan’s flood. After repeated visits, and many stolen interviews beneath the maiden’s wood shed window, Ben induced the virgin to leave her mother and the secluded home in the woods to travel with him. KiUiaa was arrested, but he escaped punishment upon the theory that Ben had run into a barbed wire fence in his eagerness to get away from the rope,
