Witnesses Desoribe Futile Attempts to BeeInmates cf the Home.The Zierenberg libel action against Truth was resumed to-daj before Mr. Justice Hawkina and the special jury. Sir Edward Clarke, Q.C., Mr. Bigham, C^C., and Mr. C. CL Scott appeared for the plaintiffs; and Mr. R. T. Reid, Q.C.,Mr. Lockwood, lt;^.CX, and Mr. Banks were forthe defendants.The first witness called for the defence wasDr. Appleby Stephenson. Mr. Lockwood proceeded to examine him as te his qualification,and the information elicited shewedthat Mr, Stephenson was a Doctor of Medicineand a member ef the Royal College of Surgeons. The witnetw, it appeared, practised his profession in Nottingaam, and in 1891 among his patterns there he had aMrs. Hem bach, who was suffering from generaldisturbance of the system due to aloohoiiam.
