Total 01.Of those arrested 26 were committed to jail 23 males and 3 females.We know that it is a chronic disease iu some people to complain of the police and denounce them, frequently in 'I unmeasured terms. But the above is a very fair showing for the vigilance and industry of the police of New Albany. A few evenings since wo beard a gentleman, in a public Bpeech in one of our city churches, say that it “was cause for thankfuloess that our policemen did not get drnnk over four times a week.” We are satisfied the gentleman did the New Albany police an injustice. We do not think there is upon the police force at the present time a single man who gets drunk. We know that several of them do not drink liquor at all.The good order that prevails in New Albany, and that has given the city an honorable name throughout the State, is directly resultant from the vigilant and faithful manner in which the police discharge their doties. No city in the West, in our judgment, has a better police force than our own. And in this there is cause for thankfulness instead of unmerited and uncalled for censure.
