C.t but said he might be operating under any one of some 40 aliases. The FBI said Dudley is a glib, graying, hard-drinking man, probably armed and certainly dangerous. He may be in New York, it was added, and he likea to pose as a wealthy, retired banker,Dudley is wanted on charges of swindling an unidentified Pittsburgh man of $15,000 and of violation of conditions of his release from the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary, where he served a term for a $52,000 swindle, theFBI said.Edward Scheldt, FBI special agent, said one of Dudley’s favorite tricks is this:Take a sucker in tow and, while they arc walking along a street, they find a wallet. They return it to the owner”—who isa stooge for Dudley. In gratitude, the ‘‘owner places a small bet for the finders on a “sure thing” in a horse race. The horse “wins” and then it is decided to make a bigger playon another sure shot — say, around, $200,000, with the victim putting up his share. That is the last the victim sees of his money—and Dudley and his partner.*
