GLOUCESTER.In the district court yesterday Leopold Viera, charged with having 24 short lobsters in his possession, was lined $24. Judge York, in reviewing the case, gave it as his opinion that 10 short lobsters were sold to one of legal length. Not only do the poor people purchase those, but the wealthier classes, and that asthe shores of cape Ann were some 20 miles In circumference it could be easilyestimated how extensive this traffic was. To enforce the law against taking short lobsters an army or inspectors would have to be maintained.
