^S9~The Lafayette Journal of yesterday reports a murder at Attica, Fountain county, perpetrated by a man named Charles Conklin on an Irishman. The difficulty whichled to the murder grew out of a talk about the#war, the murderer being a secessiohjst, and* ' ithe Irishman avowing his determination tosupport the Government. Conklin became irritated at the Irishman’s language and assaulted him—he and a friend were in a wagon riding with Conklin at the time of the conversation-following up the assault after theIrishman had jumped from the wagon, with♦a knife, killing him on the spot. A meeting was colled at Attica at once, and men appointed to pursue the murderer.
