Man Drowns In%Sinking AutoLEE’S LANDING -Andrew Leonard Dragg, 64, drowned Wednesday afternoon when he lots control of his car and it plunged into the Tangipahoa River.The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriffs office reported that Dragg and his grandchild were driving toward Lee’s Landing about 2:45 p.m. when theDeath Toll Predicted At 1,000MEXICO CITY (AP) -Demolition crews were leveling thousands of unsafe buildings today as other workers searched for more bodies in the ruins left by the earthquake Tuesday In southeast Mexico.Nearly 500 bodies had been recovered, and officials predicted the death toll might reach 1, 000 In the 30»squaremile area of hiebla and Veracruz states.President Luis Echeverria touted part of the area by bus Wednesday and ordered the demolition of some 10,000 buildings still standing but considered unsafe in more than 50 towns.The president spent hour* listening to the Mivhron of the worst quake in Mexican history.vehicle went out of control, side swiped a parked car, then plunged on top of several large boats which kept the car fromsinking immediately. Wayne Norwood.Authorities also reported Lewis Meyers, who was on his boat at the time of the accident, jumped into the water to avoid being struck bythe car.Funeral services for Dragg are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Bedico Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Vincent Gaugler with burial in the Collins Cemetery.Visitation is 6-11 p.m. today at Thomas Funeral Chapel in Ponchatoula and from 8-10 a.m. Friday.Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Allie Roberts Dragg of Lee's Landing; two daughters, Mrs. Sandra Leonard of Ponchatoula and Miss Pamela Dragg of Lee's Landing; three son^Mike and Paul Dragg, both of Lee's Landing, andDavid Dragg of Ponchatoula ; a stepson, Wayne Ballard of Hammond; five sisters, Mrs. Adam Theriot and Mrs. Joe Hereniki, both of Bedico, Mrs. Valton Blount of Ponchatoula, Mrs. James Galender of Hammond and Mrs. Roy Dykes of Sun; a brother, Eddie Dragg of Tylertown, Mitt, and four grandchildren.
