TRAMP BELIEVED TOHAVE POISONED WATERSpecial to The Gazette.Iowa City, Iowa, Aug. 30.—Analysis of water, believed to contain anthraxgerms or poison or other deadly foreign matter, introduced by a. peddier,in the water trough of J. E. Eirp, at Hartwick, Iowa, is in progress at the Iowa state bacteriological laboratories. Dr. J. J. Hinma.n, jr., the state expert, has not completed the tests yet, and lthe outcome is in doubt. Mrs. Eirp de- j clares that the peddler e cpressed a wish that God would dry ip the entire country, and prevent any more rain from falling. Then he went to the trough, and shook seme sort of powder in it, s^e avers she got a vial of the ■water. Immediately afterward hastened to town to get her husband, and gave him the bottle, which he immediately brought to the university here, after filing a complaint against the itinerant vender and asking that he be arrested.
