You will not have to explain it to any one as you are under no obligation to doFrom various clews the police decided that Andrews took Miss Blaine away from her home at Flora or some nearby town less than two months ago, and went with her to Los Angeles, Cal. Andrews was seen in Elkhart a month ago. He had eloped seven years ago with Grace Bennett, who had worked in his restaurant. He took her to California and is supposed to have deserted here there. Priorto that elopement he had lived in Elkhart for nearly ten years and was generally respected. His wife secured a divorce and later married Edward Paul, a groceryman.Andrews’ son left Elkhart yesterday for Chicago, to look after his father’s affairs. The young man said his father was in poor financial circumstances and that he had been In the habit of living well and fast. Hesaid his father told him he was doingwell .and was running a shooting gallery in Los Angeles, but did not tellhim much about his plans for the future.Andrews at one time had the fin-« -na*est restaurant in Elkhart. It was located at 313 South Main street. During the trouble with his wife she got out an injunction to prevent him from disposing of his restaurant equipment.The dispute was in the circuit court here for some time. Andrews was quite well known.It was said in Elkhart this afternoon that Andrews body would be brought from Chicago to LaPorte for burial.Comes from Good Family.A telegram from Flora, Ind., to Elkhart this afternoon says that Miss Blaine comes from a highly respected family there. Nothing has been heardfrom Charles Andrews, jr., since hewent to Chicago.
