Judge Allison yesterday refundthe petition to grant Henry Thornton a new trirl. This appeared to cast a shadow of sadness over the haudsomecountenance of our Prosecuting Attorney. But Judge Allison revived him hr announcing that if the law that Thornton violated was a relic of barbarism that the Republican party -was as much to blame for its existence as the Democratic party. As the Republican party had had numerous opportunities to repeal this law, it did not now look well for Republican politicians to be howling about it.9m
