Columbus. Olilo, Aug. 29, (INS).—An iron*' rule which allows convicts on quarter has been inaugurated by Warden 1*. E. Thomas at the Ohio state penitentiary here. Noticeable among the results of the new regime in force after the prison fire April 21. 1920, when 220 convicts were burned to death, are three outstanding things, namely:There are virtually no escapes.Radios in convicts' cells have beenbanned.Warden Thomas is burning all bridges behind him and already is prepared for another prison probe.Stricter disciplinary measures and the economic slump have coupled together to cut escapes to the mini- j mum. Since the first of the year, ac-, cording to the warden, only three prisoners, all trusties, have walked away from the penitentiary.
