Tragedy in Kiug George.About seven weeks ago Miss Audio Raw* lett, a well knowo young lady of Klug Goorge counly, suddenly and mysteriously disappeared with her infant child, and nothing was hear.I of her until 8undny, when Mr. Thomas Minor, who waa going through the woods of bis farm, Pop Castle, found the mutilated bodice of the unfortunate woman and her infant babe. Mr. Miner in going through a thickly grown piece of woods along I bo honks of Poplar Creek, noticed something King at the water'd edge and found it lo ho ill* dead bodies of the woman and child. Wiihoul stopping lo liud cut who the unfortunates wete he hurried to the court house and notilied the commonwealLh's allorury and coroner of what he had found. Common wealth’s At-loruoy Mason, Cormar Ninde, and Mr. Miner at onco repaired to the plvch. Upon examination they found that the bodies were those of the unfortunate girl and her infant enfolded in her arms. The bodies wereteriibly mutilated by dogs, bogs, a?«d other animals of the woods, but evidences of foul play were seen, aud ihe coroner at once eummonc-d a jury ofnque-;, which viewed the rc-maine on the ground, and then repaired wiih them to the court house to make an examination. A number of witnesses were summoned. The jury, after sitting for two days,examining a number of witnesses, came to the following verdict late yesterday evening : We. the jury, Gnd that Anna Kiwlett and infant came to iheir death by the hand or hands of some uuknown person or persona.” For some time previous lo the dirappearaoce of Mi-s Rawlett a young man had been paying her his undivided attention, aDd it was rumored that she was to have been murrUd very shortly. Her friends claim that he took advantage of the confidence placed in him aud deceived her, which is the result of this awful tragedy. There Is considerable excitement in the county ovtr the terrible crime, and the officers of the Commonwealth will exert every possible means, leaving no stone uoturned to find the guilty one and place the crime where it belongB. Detectives have been ordered to the scene of the tragedy, and will as Boon as tbey arrive be put oo the track of the murderer. There have been no arrests yet, but great excitement prevails, ana if the crime should be securely fastened on anyone Judge Lynch” may pay a visit lo the quiet and peaceful old county of King George.Miss Rawlett and her child left the bouse of Mr. Cowan, her stepfaLher, abouj sevenweeks ago, and had not since been seen. She waa 6n orphan, and aged about thirty* five years. By some persons it is thought that mother and child were murdered, while others think that they wandered Into the ravins along the creek and were drowned.
