Hewitt stole harnesses at Hubbardston some three weeks ago and left this city on Friday the 6th, spending the night in a barn just over the line In Ashby. The next day he went to Keene, N. H., and the following day to Gllsum where he remained two days and then disappeared. Detective Kimball followed his trail and found a wife at Gilsum whom Hewett married In 1879 under the assumed nameof Frank Smith. At Keene DetectiveKimball found a second wife whom tfewett married in 1871. From her the officer learned that Hewett had friends at Bait TFlnthrop and by cbtrespondlngVUh an officer in that vicinity Detective Kimball learned that hla man was there and on Sunday night he started In pursuit of. Hewett At Hallowell he obtained an officer to accompany him to East Wlnthrop. Hewett made a violent resistance,and was only captured after a severe tussle. Detective Kimball handcuffed one hand of the prisoner to his hand and brought him to this city. Hewett has a third wife at East Wintbrop, and a son seven or eight years old.
