Once more there is what appears to be a tangible clew to the murder of Sarah Schafer, the Bedford school teacher, who was so foully slain more than two years ago. There have been too many crews in this mysterious crime that have ended in utter failure that it is little wonder that the public does not get wildly excited over the lat est arrest, which may yet prove of the greatest importance. And yet there has never been a mur der in Indiana in which the people of the State have had a deeper or more continuing interest than in that of Miss Schafer. Her character was so sweet and aimable and her life so blameless that the story of her wanton murder aroused the deepest feelings of the en tire State. Some day, we believe, the mystery will be solved. The present theory of the crime that is being investigated may go the way of the score of other theories that have been run out to no conclusion, and Tanksley, the latest suspect, may go free; but some day, let us hope, the murderer will be found and tardy jus tice meted out to him.--Indianapolis Star.
